The Mukwege Chair aims to develop interdisciplinary research in the field of sexual violence against women and to bring together the knowledge on this issue from different partners and universities in Belgium and around the world.
The December 2025 conference, hosted by ULB's Faculty of Human Motricity Sciences, will address the theme of the reconstruction process for women victims of sexual violence, with a particular focus on the body and resilience.
The International Chair on “Violence against women and girls in conflicts” (abbreviated to “Mukwege Chair”) is the result of an initiative launched by Professor Emeritus (ULiège) Véronique De Keyser
The Mukwege Chair is based on a double strength: four pillars and a double approach.
The 1st Congress of the International Mukwege Chair was held from 13 to 15 November 2019 at the University of Liege.
The 6th Congress of the International Mukwege Chair will be held from December 11 to 13 on the Erasme campus of the Université de Libre de Bruxelles (ULB).
