The Mukwege Chair is based on a double strength.

Four pillars

It is based on the hollistic model developed by Dr Mukwege.

  1. Medical care
  2. Psychological care
  3. Socio-economic reintegration
  4. Legal support

These are mixed with the more transversal fields of history and anthropology.

A double approach

In this model and within the Chair, each pillar is crossed by two approaches:

  • an academic approach (presentation of research results)
  • an empirical approach. The latter gives the floor to associations, NGOs and scientists who highlight data from the field and question the possible generalisation of research results by highlighting the weight of contextual factors (political, cultural, geographical).
